Following the retirement of Dr. Gary W. Streit, Dr. Wilbert (Will) J. Friesen, has been appointed interim President of Malone University, effective February 22nd, 2010. Since July 2008 Dr. Friesen has served as Malone's Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs. Prior to arriving at Malone, Dr. Friesen served as interim Dean, School of
Humanities, Religion, and Social Sciences of Fresno Pacific University
in Fresno, California. He joined the faculty there in 1993 and has held
a variety of teaching and administrative positions for the past 15
years. Born in Chilliwack, B.C., Canada, Friesen earned the B.A.
in psychology from Tabor College, Hillsboro, KS (1977); the M.S. in
psychology from the University of Kansas, Lawrence KS (1980); the M.A.
in theology and historical studies from Mennonite Brethren Biblical
Seminary, Fresno, CA (1982); and the Ph.D. in religion and culture from
McGill University, Montreal, Quebec (1999). Selected
publications include the forthcoming, "Religion and Development
Ethics: Contradiction or Possibility," submitted for publication
to Pacific Journal (2008) as well as the book review article, Nicholas Boyle, Who Are We Now? (Notre Dame: University of Notre Dame Press, 1998) for Modern Theology.
