Advising and Testing

Advising & Testing offers many different services to all Malone students. Our work begins with new students when they come in to schedule their first semester classes. We also work with students taking CAAP tests, CLEP tests, COMPASS placement tests, and when special accommodations are needed for testing.

New Students

The Office of Advising & Testing serves all new students as they transition from high school or another college or university into Malone University. Specifically, our purpose is to:

  • Explore various majors and career interests you might have
  • Examine how your academic strengths fit into those career objectives
  • Develop an action plan to bring these objectives into reality
  • Present various testing options that might be available in gaining academic credit
  • Provide individual services designed to assist you in achieving your academic goals

Our Staff
Emily Heist and Deborah Black are full-time academic advisors who assist students in developing educational plans consistent with career/life goals and provide students with the academic information needed to pursue those goals.  Emily and Deb work with the Admissions Center in providing academic advising to every new undergraduate student. They also assist in providing undeclared students scheduling advice as they continue their studies at the university. Emily and Deb provide academic advising by individual appointment, phone, or through email contact.

Holly Brown is the administrative assistant in charge of the daily routines found in the Office of Advising & Testing. She coordinates the academic advising schedule with the admissions center and assists the academic advisors in the scheduling process.  She is knowledgeable in all services provided by the office and assists students seeking information about college policies or procedures.
