You can earn your Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Malone University through our BSN Degree Completion (BSNDC) Program. The BSNDC is a lock-step, for convenient scheduling, cohort program with small classes and opportunities to pursue your professional goals whether through practice or research. With classes meeting one night a week, this 20 month program is ideal for busy professionals. There is also an option to earn credit for prior learning.

How to Apply

  1. Complete the application for admission.
  2. Provide a copy of your current Ohio RN license and transcripts.
  3. Interview with the BSNDC Director or designee.
  4. Provide records to validate clinical requirements prior to you first clinical course in the BSNDC program.
NOTE: Applications are reviewed year-round for cohort-classes beginning in September and January. Early submission of materials is strongly recommended because of limited space.

Admission Criteria

  • Hold a current Ohio RN license.
  • Document a minimum of six months of clinical practice within the last four years.
  • Hold an Associate of Arts degree or Diploma from in nursing from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Document a minimum of 60 transferable college semester hours (90 quarter hours) with a grade no lower than “C” earned in each transferable nursing and support course.

BSNDC in Nursing Tuition 2009/2010
(May 2009 –April 2010)
Costs for the BSNDC are “bundled” (including tuition, fees, textbooks, syllabi, standardized testing, Nursing Study Center services) for this program. Please contact the School of Nursing for total cost.

Financial Aid

Financial Aid Information 2009-2010

Following are instructions for filing for financial assistance: YOU MUST COMPLETE ALL STEPS EVEN IF YOU ARE ONLY APPLYING FOR A LOAN.

Step 1:    Complete a Malone Financial Aid Application and return it to Malone’s Financial Aid Office. (For financial aid purposes you are considered a FULL-TIME student.)  
Step 2:    Complete the ENTIRE Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). You may file online at www.fafsa.ed.gov. Our Title IV school code is 003072.
Step 3:    Provide the Financial Aid Office and the School of Graduate and Professional Studies a copy of your employer’s tuition assistance plan if you are eligible for this benefit.

Receipt of financial aid is contingent upon admission to BSNDC and must be coordinated with your start date.

FEDERAL PELL GRANT
This is a need-based grant based on the results of the FAFSA you have filed.

NURSING EDUCATION ASSSITANCE LOAN PROGRAM (NEALP)
Ohio residents with financial need may be eligible for this loan offered by the Ohio Board of Regents. The maximum award is $3,000 per year. For more information, and an application for to www.regents.state.oh.us/sgs/.

VETERAN’S AND OHIO NATIONAL GUARD BENEFITS AND ACE’S PROGRAM

The BSNDC program is approved for Veteran’s and Ohio National Guard Benefits. Contact the Registrar’s Office at
330-471-8431 for information concerning Veteran’s Benefits and the Financial Aid Office at 330-471-8435 for Ohio National Guard Benefits. Officers not eligible for regular benefits may be eligible for the ACE’s program.

FEDERAL SUBSIDIZED STAFFORD LOAN
This is a need-based loan (based on the FAFSA you have previously filed). The interest rate is fixed at 5.6%. Interest begins six months after classes end or you stop attending at least half time. Repayment also begins at that time and can extend up to ten years.

FEDERAL UNSUBSIDIZED STAFFORD LOAN
This is the same as the Stafford Loan program, except that it is NOT NEED-BASED and you, the borrower, are responsible for the interest that accrues DURING the in-school period.

NOTE: Any balance that remains after financial aid has been deducted from the total charges, must be paid in accordance with one of the standard payment plans. Any questions regarding financial aid should be directed to the Financial Aid Office at
