Graduate Programs

Graduate Gateways
In the graduate teacher education programs, there are three gateways that help candidates mark their progress toward completing their program. Additional information is available in the office of the Director of Graduate Education. Each gateway includes meeting the criteria listed below:
Gateway 1:  Admission to Graduate Program
  • Transcripts reflecting completion of an undergraduate degree
  • Undergraduate cumulative 3.00 GPA
  • Two letters of recommendation
  • Valid teaching license (for selected programs)
  • Interview with director of program
Gateway 2:  Acceptance to Candidacy for Degree Program
  • Completion of 15 hours of graduate studies
  • Graduate cumulative 3.0 GPA
  • Demonstration of research proficiency
  • Satisfactory recommendations from two graduate faculty
  • Satisfactory designation on Dispositions Assessment
Gateway 3:  Completion of Program
  • Successful completion of all graduate course work
  • Graduate cumulative 3.0 GPA
  • Earning “proficient” on program practicum and/or culminating project
  • Satisfactory designation on Dispositions Assessment
  • Passing required Praxis II content exam(s) as specified by the Ohio Department of Education (if program includes licensure/endorsement option)
