Three freshmen members of the Malone University men’s soccer
team were recently recognized with postseason honors from the American Mideast
Conference. Jake Zimmerly, a defender
from Sterling, Ohio (pictured to the right, Norwayne H.S.), Alex Hall, a forward from Massillon, Ohio
(pictured bottom left, Washington H.S.), and Adam Sharpnack, a forward from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
(pictured bottom right, North Allegheny H.S.), each collected All-AMC Honorable Mention recognition in
voting announced on Tuesday.
Zimmerly started all 18 of the Pioneers’ matches this season and helped to anchor a Malone defense that tallied three shutouts on the year and surrendered a 3.29 goals against average. Hall recorded one goal and one assist and tied for the team lead in shot attempts with 22. Sharpnack paced the squad’s offensive attack with six goals and four assists.
The Pioneers ended their season with a 5-12-1 overall record, including a 3-6 mark in the AMC.
