Men's Tennis

The Malone men’s tennis program has a very successful history, particularly from the mid 1980’s to the mid 1990’s when the team won numerous conference titles and made several appearances at the NAIA national tournament.  The program has four NAIA All-America honors to its credit and made its fourth trip to the NAIA National Tournament in 2008 after capturing the American Mideast Conference/NAIA Region IX Title.  The squad has recently been led by two-year head coach Steve Moroney.

Men’s Tennis Defeats Cedarville 6-3 In Final Match Of Season

The Malone University men’s tennis team defeated Cedarville University on Friday afternoon in its final match of the 2010 season.  The Pioneers posted victories at the top three singles spots and swept the doubles competition.  With the win, the team finished the 2010 spring campaign at 4-10 overall and 2-3 in conference play.

Men’s Tennis Drops 8-1 Decision At Northwestern Ohio

The Malone University men’s tennis team lost to AMC foe University of Northwestern Ohio (away) on Saturday by the score of 8-1.  Nathanael Rodd, at #2 singles with a 6-3, 6-3 win, earned the lone victory for Malone on the day.  With the loss, the team now stands at 3-10 on the spring season and is 1-3 in conference play.

The Malone University men’s tennis team lost to Walsh University by the score of 9-0 in a home match on Wednesday afternoon.  With the loss, the team now stands at 3-9 on the spring season and is 1-2 in conference play.

Men’s Tennis Captures First AMC Win At Notre Dame College 6-3

March 30, 2010

The Malone University men’s tennis team defeated Notre Dame College on Saturday afternoon. Highlights for the match for Malone included a #1 singles victory by David Cairns 6-3, 6-2. The doubles squads also had an impressive sweep over the Falcons as Cairns teamed up with Nathan Davis at #1 doubles (8-4), Nathanael Rodd and Tim Frazier at #2 doubles (8-5), and Hunter Atkins and Alex Steinmetz at #3 doubles (8-1).  With the win, the team now stands at 3-8 on the spring season and is 1-1 in conference play.

Highlights for the match for Malone include hard-fought, three-set losses by David Cairns and Tim Frazier by scores of 7-5, 4-6, 0-1 (10-2) and 0-6, 6-4, 2-6, respectively.  With the loss, the team now stands at 2-8 on the spring season and is 0-1 in conference play.
