2010 Winter Softball Clinic

Saturday, February 27th at Malone's Osborne Hall (Click here for directions to Malone)

  • The event will be under the direction of of the Malone University Softball Team, Head Coach Whitney Hartman, Assistant Coach Steve Amato, and pitching instructor Kandis Smith
  • The clinic is designed to teach and promote the fundamental skills of the game, and strengthen advanced techniques and mechanics in athletes in a safe and effective way 
  • Participants will be led through a series of individual and group instruction
  • Girls of all ages are welcome and each session is designed per age group

 

Clinic Schedule

7:00 - 7:45 am: Registration and Check-In

8:00 - 10:00 am: Ages 12 & Under

10:15 - 11:30 am: Catching Clinic

10:15 - 11:30 am: Pitching Clinic (Beginner/Intermediate)

11:45 am - 1:30 pm: Pitching Clinic (Advanced)

2:00 - 4:00 pm: Ages 13-18

*Parents are welcome to attend our "Advise for Student-Athletes" conclusion following the last session at 4:00 pm.

 

Cost

$35 for first session; additional sessions $25.  Please make checks payable to: Malone University Softball Clinic

 

How To Register

Click here to download registration and liability form (PDF).  Print both forms and mail to address provided below OR e-mail the registration form to .  Once payment is received, a verification e-mail will be sent to the address provided, and liability form must be signed during Check-In from 7:00 - 7:45 am.

Equipment

Participants should wear appropriate softball attire for indoor play.  It’s suggested that personal items are clearly marked.  Players will need to bring their own equipment, including:

  • Glove
  • Indoor Tennis Shoes
  • Batting Helmet
  • Bat
  • Catcher's Gear

 

Pitching

The Beginner/Intermediate Session will be divided into two groups.  Beginning pitchers will learn basic throwing fundamental skills of throwing a fastpitch softball while the Intermediate group learns the proper delivery of basic pitches.

The Advanced Session is for pitchers who wish to build on their current foundation of pitching skills.  Advanced pitches will be taught during this session.

**Catchers are strongly recommended**

 

Catching

The Catching Session will include instruction of proper defensive techniques including:

  • Stance
  • Pop-Ups
  • Blocking Balls
  • Throwing to Bases
