2010 Winter Youth Volleyball Clinics

Skill Focus: Passing, Setting, Hitting, Serving

Cost: $25

Clinicians: Pioneer coaching staff and Malone University volleyball players

Clinic 1:  February 20, 2010,   9-12 noon,  Grades 2-4

Clinic 2:  February 20, 2010,  1-4 p.m., Grades 5-6

Clinic 3: March 20, 2010, 9-12 noon, Grades 7-8

Clinic Format:

Registration begins 20 minutes prior to clinic start time

First Hour and a Half:  Fundamental Skill Development 

  •  Passing (hand position, platform control, footwork, concepts)
  • Setting (upper and lower body mechanics, function and role of a setter)
  • Hitting (Armwork, approach, transition from blocking to hitting)
  • Serving (Overhand mechanics, serving principles)

Last Hour and a Half:  Game/Team concepts, Scrimmage

  • Rules of the game
  • Specialization of positions
  • Offensive systems
  • Game-like scrimmage (will vary based upon number of registrants)

Last 10 minutes:  Talk Time

  •   Opportunity to ask questions of the coaches and players
